United Health Care

This series of two spots for United Health Care were my first project at Mirada. The concept revolved around making sense of complicated health statistics that drive our health care system.   I guess the creative agency that came up with this failed to see the irony in putting all this emphasis on our health statistics. It dehumanizes us, and in the end, it underscores the notion that, for insurance companies, people are just statistics in a big database. Execution on this spot was trickier than it seems. Some crafty breakout elements and detailed compositing were necessary to wrap around the subjects as they moved. Most of the challenge was in controlling secondary animation procedurally in Houdini, which I had no part in. I was just some lowly lighter.
